I have researched a number of websites that center around poverty and homelessness. The following is a list of links that I thought were interesting.
Please note that text below the links represent what I feel like is the main points/goals of each organization. This will hopefully shed light on the biases of each listed link and other homelessness and poverty related organizations.
Center for the Study of Urban Poverty
This organization does research on the causes and results of homelessness. Focuses on increasing wages by encouraging skill oriented jobs instead of low wage, non skill based labor.
Catholic Relief Services
CRS attempts to help communities around the world by providing primarily seeds that will bring grains for years to come.
United Way
United Way is a national organization that believes the best way to assist those in need is by forming groups within those communities to have a positive impact by pooling resources.
Inter Faith Council
IFC is a local organization that values resources and information as a way to help the poor and homeless. This organization specializes in connecting clients to services, but does not have any services of their own.
Orange County Resource Centers
CHTOP specialiezes in "programs and strategies" aimed at children, youth and families. CHTOP believes that these programs are an important way to reach out to their desired audience. CHTOP focuses on children, youth and families.
Salvation Army
Salvation Army has an evangelical mission: Meet human needs unbiasedly in Christ's name while preaching the gospel.
Toxic Row: Growing up in Skid Row
A PDF file from an organization from LA. This organization thinks that public visibility will improve the plight of many children on Skid Row. It is clear that the author believes that Skid Row is no place for children.
Homelessness in America
An interesting site that proposes solutions for America's problems. Believe that there are a number of things, including permanent housing, that could be done to help the poor.
Naitonal Alliance to End Homelessness
Organization has a mission to both end and prevent homelessness by helping the poor and homeless make "positive changes" in their lives.
National Coalition For the Homeless
By involving people who are actively or recently homeless, the coalition attempts to end and prevent homelessness.
Poor People's Economic Right's Campaign
By characterizing poverty as a human rights violation, this organization, made up of poor people, tries to increase public awareness of this "violation".
The One Campaign
ONE tries to increase public knowledge about poverty and use a growing member base to influence platforms of political candidates. ONE focuses on public power to influence politics at all levels.
National Low Income Housing Coalition
By foucising on the lowest income households, this coalition thinks the Affordable Housing problem is solvable through the goals listed under the About Us section. (Includes specific goals)
End Poverty 2015
An organization that believe poverty can be ended by 2015. Website includes "8 Goals".that are specific, including end hunger, universal education, and gender equity.
Child Poverty Action Group
CPAG seeks to 1. Raise Awareness 2. Change policy for families in poverty 3. Access to full entitlement of income maintenance.
Global Call to Action Against Poverty
GCAP desires to make allies with a wide variety of groups to call for action from world leaders.
To the Streets
This event is designed to 1. raise awareness by having a rally where participants sleep in the streets and 2. cause political change in order to end poverty and homelessness.
National Law Center on Homeless and Poverty
The NLCHP plans on ending poverty by addressing its "fundamental causes": 1. Lack of Affordable Housing 2. Lagging Incomes 3. Slashed Services and Government Assistance
Texas Homeless Network
THN believes that strengthening communities and partnerships will have an impact on prevention and the end of homelessness.
Poverty.com
Through "Food for Work" and "Food for education" programs, this organization plans on elimination world hunger and poverty.

I didn't really like the last poll. There's too much ambiguity on the subject to zero in on just one factor

I agree with your opinion. However, I was really trying to focus in on people's opinion and bias with that question. The relevance of each is debatable, but I think we all have a preformed idea about the topic.
That's the hardest thing I think about formulating a viable poll. Trying to encompass all possible categories into just few responses. My preformed idea simply didn't fit so I didn't respond.
